From June 27 to July 01, 2011, embryologist Andris Grunskis participated in training on Analyses of Sperm, which was organized by IBL-ESHRE-NAFA and held in the Hospital of Karolinska University in Stockholm. Scope of the training included mastering of both theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in respect of analyses of sperm sample. Lectures included the following themes: clinic parameters of sperm analyses and correct assessment of such parameters; in addition, importance and necessity of internal and external quality control was emphasized to guarantee constant quality of analyses issued by laboratory. Every day, the theory was followed by practice where the newly obtained knowledge had to be applied for improving of practical skills. For acquiring of certificate confirming mastered knowledge and skills, every participant had to pass written and practical examinations. Successful passing of both examinations provided issue of certificate verifying not only participation in the training but also well-stand tests. Andris passed all tests successfully and brought home certificate confirming his knowledge and skills.
