The evaluation of embryo quality by metabolomics- a new non-invasive method and a new strategy to propel single embryo transfer (SET) and to improve successes rates in ART field – it was only one of many innovative topics, what were introduced to Dr.Violeta Fodina, AVA Clinic Medical director and consultant in fertility and Indra Dundure, embryologist, this year in Valencia, Spain.
Morphology and cleavage rate remain the main criterias of embryo assessment. Whereas the number of assisted reproduction cycles increases, the critical goal for reproductive medicine is improvement in the ability quickly and non-invasively (embryo stays intact) identify the best embryos for transfer. Within this context- embryo metabolomics is very good method for checking many metabolic parameters of embryo during development. After every embryo testing is possible to find out, which embryo from all has the maximum potential to implant in mother uterus. This knowledge is very good basis for SET, what allows to avoid multiple pregnancy and at the same time to increase pregnancy rate for patient.
